Summary

Description
English: From prehistoric stories to the historic Old West, the Surprise Valley Barrel Springs Backcountry Byway reveals some of the secrets of the Great Basin Desert. #mypubliclandsroadtrip

The Byway forms a loop that begins and ends in Cedarville, California, and takes a minimum of three hours without stops. But you’ll be tempted to stop and enjoy wildlife, wildflowers, dynamic vistas and more along the California-Nevada border. Be sure to take your camera, especially if you’re near Surprise Valley’s Middle Lake at sunset.
