The film is a dramatized fictionalization based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Chris Friedman.[1] The narrative is set during the "Golden State Era" of the 1970s and 1980s, exploring the psychological toll of serial crime on suburban communities.[2]
Synopsis
editThe film is set in 1975 and follows the descent of Jay (Petter Berge), an eighteen-year-old whose suburban life masks a growing compulsion toward criminal behavior. As his actions escalate from trespassing and voyeurism to violent assault, detectives Shoore (Jac Howden) and Remming (Mark Charlesworth) attempt to track the perpetrator known as the "Marcavillian Hunter."[3] The story focuses on maternal instincts and the psychological atmosphere of a community under threat during a historically significant era of crime.
