Draft:Alex Bailey (filmmaker)

(Redirected from Draft:Alex Bailey)
  • Comment: The Hot Docs and ImagineNATIVE awards name and go to the director, not to the producer -- note that the sources for both of those awards name Theola Ross, not Alex Bailey, as the recipient -- so Bailey does not inherit notability just because other people who aren't Bailey won awards for a film Bailey produced, if Bailey herself was not named as the recipient.
The Canadian Screen Award for Best Short Documentary, on the other hand, does name the producer alongside the director as a recipient of the nomination and/or award -- so that award does constitute a legitimate notability claim, although not one that's so "inherently" notable as to exempt Bailey from having to pass WP:GNG on her sourcing.
But I had to strip several deadlinked and/or primary source references (which are not support for notability) from the article -- for example, a person gets over notability standards for music by having GNG-worthy third party coverage about her music in reliable sources (newspapers, magazines, etc.), not by sourcing her music to its own presence on Bandcamp.
But of the three footnotes left that are actually reliable source coverage about Alex Bailey, two are Q&A interviews in which she's talking about herself in the first person, and the third is a piece of "human interest" coverage in a context that has absolutely nothing to do with her primary notability claims. Which means they're acceptable for use, but they don't add up to passage of GNG as they don't represent fully third-party coverage about her work. Again, she does have a valid notability claim (CSA nomination) in principle, but the sourcing needs to be significantly improved before this draft can be accepted.
