Deborah Nunes

Deborah Hannah Pontes Nunes (born 14 March 1993) is a Brazilian handball player. She plays for the Russian club HC Astrakhanochka and is also member of the Brazil women's national handball team. In 2013 she won the World Championship; the first time ever for Brazil and South America.[3]

Career

Nunes played in Brazil for Metodista/São Bernardo, where she won the 2012 Brazilian championship.[4] A year later she finished second with the club.[5]

In 2019 she signed for Russian club HC Astrakhanochka.[6] After she had broken the quarantine rules during the COVID-19 pandemic during a stay abroad in March 2020, her contract was cancelled.[7]

For the 2021-22 season she joined Spanish side CB Atlético Guardés.[8][9]

National team

She has played in the 2012 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.[10]

In the summer of 2013 she won the 2013 Pan American Championship with Brazil.[11] In December the same year, she won the World Championship.[3] She scored 11 goals during the tournament.[12]
